SERB DEPUTIES WALK OUT OF
KOSOVO ASSEMBLY OVER DECISION ON
ELECTIONS
Tanjug - December 22, 2003
Pristina - Coalition Povratak (Return) deputies walked out of a special
session of the Assembly of Kosovo-Metohija
on Monday (22 December) after the decision to adopt, without debate, a
declaration on the non-recognition of the election of the parliament of Serbia
in the territory of Kosovo.
Coalition Povratak deputy club chief Dragisa Krstovic told Tanjug that the
Assembly of Kosovo-Metohija did not have
the right to adopt such declarations. "We will request an urgent meeting with
UNMIK (UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo) chief Harri Holkeri and
demand the taking of urgent measures following the developments on Monday in
provincial parliament. Because of all this I am afraid that even graver
incidents could occur in Kosovo-Metohija on December 28," when the elections
will be held, Krstovic added.
Provincial parliament president Nexhat Daci said that the Presidency of the
Assembly of Kosovo and Metohija adopted the declaration at the request of the
Democratic Party of Kosovo, of Hashim Tachi.
