US
EXPERT SAYS BIN LADIN NETWORK ACTIVE IN BOSNIA
BBC Monitoring - October 25, 2004
(Newsreader) Yossef Bodansky, director of the Task Force on Terrorism and
Unconventional Warfare of the US Congress, has told the Glas Srpske daily that a
terrorist network whose groups are responsible to Usamah Bin Ladin is active in
Bosnia-Hercegovina.
The assertions of Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim) politicians who reject the presence
of international terrorists in the region would be founded if (the central
Bosnian town of ) Zenica was not a part of Bosnia-Hercegovina, Bodansky said,
citing Zenica as an example of the latest finding by US investigative bodies who
were probing the possible involvement of Bosnia-Hercegovina in the global
terrorist network.
US investigators have established that Islamic terrorists from Western Europe
were behind suicide attacks and bombings in Baghdad. They were trained in the
Zenica area and from there sent to Iraq via Italy to fight American forces, the
US terrorist expert claimed.
He went on to say that in a series of arrests in London this year, terrorists
allegedly conceded to having links with Bosnia-Hercegovina. These are very
serious accusations.
