Tanjug - September 23, 2003
15:37 BELGRADE - About 200,000 women from the Balkans have become victims
of a smuggling network that covers this region and is expanding into countries
of the European Union, and the four largest "exporters" are Moldavia, Romania,
Ukraine and Russia, the London Insitute for War and Peace Reporting assessed.
Romania is the main source for acquiring the women, while Albania is the main
trafficking center. The roads of the trade go across Albania, Serbia and
Hungary, as well as across Montenegro and the Adriatic Sea to Italy and to the
south across Bulgaria and Greece.
